Many times before yesterday I had walked pass this building and wondered what it would be like inside.
The Freemasons Hall (United Grand Lodge of England, in fact) in Covent Garden is a craftmanship masterpiece with a quality that nowadays would be impossible to match. (As an architect, I must admit that it is frustrating to admit such a thing but truth is we have lost our trades because we have not done enough to look after them.) Visiting it as part of the Open house London weekend was a treat.
My photos are not reflective of what the building is like .. the best way I can describe what it is like to be there is that it felt like travelling back in time to (weirdly) an Ayn Rand or a George Orwell futuristic book in a deco context, but truthfully, it is much better that you see for yourself.
It is Super interesting.
