For anyone who loves anime, Kochi will be familiar as the city Studio Ghibli used to tell their "I Can Hear the Sea" movie (translated to English as "Ocean Waves") The city is easy to visit on foot, which gives you a chance to really interact with the streets and the shops and to take photos but it also has many wonderful places to visit.

I already spoke about the castle and the market and so i would like to quickly mention a couple of other places which are worth visiting:

The Makino Botanical Garden is simply spectacular. Designed by Hiroshi Naito it is a wonderful example of architecture and nature speaking to each other.

The Sakamoto Ryoma Memorial Museum is a place with the most beautiful view of the sea , which is dedicated to Ryoma Sakamoto (1835 - 1867) who is credited for being the strategist who made possible the alliance which gave way to the rebirth of a unified Japan.
