Pompidou

The Centre Pompidou was designed by architects Renzo Piano from Italy and Richard Rogers from the UK through a competition entry. With both structure and services outside the building can provide flexibility and adaptability inside and this was a ground-breaking idea.

At the city scale, through the public realm (a square where people launch around under the sun) it brought life to an area of Paris which, at the time was very different to what it has become.

At 42 the building feels as modern as ever but the exposure to the elements reflects the need of some TLC. This is why it is being refurbished .

During our last visit we were able to see first hand how the positioning of the services, circulation routes and structure outside the building makes possible for the gallery to remain open while the works are being carried out and it is remarkable.
For anyone who still has not visited , I would recommend you do so with an open mind because I guarantee you will be surprised. Not only they curate beautiful and mind expanding works but as you ascent to the top, you will have the most stunning views of the city of light.
