I am about to share some of the photos I took during a recent visit to Japan.
I was not sure where to start but i decided to start here, with a humble daikon oden because it was simply magnificent.
To the western palate looking to eating more familiar/ widely exported dishes. It could seem like an underwhelming choice but the chestnutty flavour- percolated from the broth and emerging from the white flesh of the radish- was something which requires years to perfect and which is difficult to forget.
Our journey began in Tokyo, as usual, but after a few days relaxing at home, we ventured to our first stop: the town of Matsue, my father in law's favourite.
Matsue is a beautiful town in the Shimane Prefecture, located at the eastern side of Lake Shinji . It has all you need: a castle, gardens, historical buildings and amazing food.
I was looking forward to eating at this super cute place called Yamaichi because last time we visited it was closed... and it did not disappoint *
The colour of its water, reflecting that of the clear skies. The light of the sun reflecting on the buildings. The ripples on the water drawing the movement of the water and telling what lied beneath.
A beautiful spot
