Today I will be breaking the rules and rather than tell you what I think, will ask you to tell me what your thoughts are on the topic of HS2.
Do you think a speedier train is a necessary evil we should work with or just an evil we could live without?
Do you think that HS2 will help spread wealth beyond the capital and reduce traffic or that the 80 billion predicted to cost could be spent in a different way?
If you dont know, i recommend that you look into it because it is worth finding a way forward and a positive outcome to address the issue at the core of this discussion (i.e. the historical tension between economy and the environment)
Also worth downloading the "Greener Vision" by the Wildlife Trust , which proposes restoring the environmental impact of the project by creating a 1km wide green ribbon in both sites of the railway line which can both provide amenity to humans and encourage the return of wildlife.
