I don't know whether this is your case but we have been quite busy since January . It seems people feel ready for change and are looking to work in their homes & businesses.
After months of relatively quietness , we are working on quite a few different types of projects at the moment, and I have to admit that I find myself wondering whether the arrival of spring has anything to do with it
Some fifteen years ago i was told that the periods following the summer holidays and Easter were the times when most people bought homes and hence the months leading to those were the busiest for the industry.
Then online estate agents arrived and made house hunting a continuous endeavour and in doing so, they disrupted the rhythm ...
More recently, companies such as Modern house have taken the disruption one step further. By bringing design to the forefront , they are making clients ,who were happy with their homes, reconsider whether there are other things the should also be exploring before putting their homes in the market.
Whether to sell or to live in, I guess that after spending a year mainly at home, most of us have redesigned a considerable amount of our homes in our minds by now, and hence it does make sense that at least some of us proceed making those dreams a reality.
From a professional perspective, I have noticed some changes.
On the one hand clients are more confident in what they would like their homes to be and more aware of the costs involved.
However, we still find ourselves battling widely spread misinformation. Here some examples of things you will find me saying:
1. The implementation of permitted development rights is restricted by Article 4
2. If you are in a conservation area, the rules apply where the SPD states. Even if away from the street.
3. If you are refurbishing a listed building, you do need to apply for Listed building consent even if you are not demolishing a wall.
4. There are fire safety implications to an open plan entrance.
