Common errors during design stages

It is very important to spend time getting to know a building before refurbishing it in order to understand it, appreciate it and learn of its context (Light, air quality and flow between the rooms for example, but also neighbourhood, heritage status, original features, conditions of the lease, covenants etc)

We have found that most clients don't give themselves enough time to do this, and as such, they don't fully appreciate the type of process their project will require or the inherent value that can be found in their property.

More often than not, they know something is not working, have sought out inspiration online or in magazines, and believe that a direct implementation of those ideas is the way forward and removing all original features is the answer.

They are so focused in their current needs that they forget to think long term to see that, in fact, original features are assets many look for and make their home both unique and desirable.

When looking for a team to help you materialise your project, make sure you surround yourself with people who will be able to advise you truthfully and insightfully and that will tell you when lines cannot be crossed to help you minimise your risks.

Today's tips are key pointers to ensure the design process runs efficiently and lawfully but also to preserves your property's charm for the future.
