Liverpool

A lot has changed in the world since my first and (previously) only visit to Liverpool in March 2020.

It was just before the first lockdown and I remember that everyone kept discussing the news and the potential impact of the pandemia that had taken over the world. Yesterday was different .

The atmosphere was that of a normal (ISH) Friday . Office groups having lunch and small groups arriving in town for a night out. There were other changes too.

The local museums have taken the time to assess the legacy of enslavement and also understood the need to embrace the works of a wider group of artists. It was refreshing to see steps taken to bring the community together through knowledge sharing and rather honest story telling through the curatorial work (creating an intense dialogue between the work and the observer) but also the labelling and describing of spaces/places to raise awareness about the provenance of elements within the built environment. I hope we can all use what we have lived in the past few years as a learning opportunity and collectively become better to one another.

The road is long, I will not pretend otherwise, but I hope we manage to push through for the next generation.
