The care we put in what we do

The care we put in what we do impacts the way others enjoy the fruits of our work.

Allow me to illustrate:.

This beautiful mug was made by my friend @bolmeover and ever since I received it, it has become a favourite.

It is light and beautiful but importantly, It was made with care and one can feel it. Knowing this enhances the experience of drinking tea.

As an architect, this is something I constantly think about when designing and delivering projects. It is also something I think about when I make my jewellery pieces, for example.

Objects are objects but they are also a reflection of those who make them and hence when considering whether to bring something to our lives, it is worth considering who has made the object and under which conditions to ensure we support their work and preserve the crafts.

I want to acknowledge that sometimes this might not be possible because collectively we have sacrificed craft for convenience. This said, we can always be on the look and change our habits where possible. As a former boss told me at the start of my career, it is not about buying the best, but the best you can afford to buy.
