Maggie’s at St Bartholomew’s

Designed by Steven Holl Architects, the Maggie’s Centre at St Bartholomew’s, London, clearly stands out from its surroundings.

Wrapped in matte white glass and fragments of colored glass (apparently inspired by "Medieval music notation"), it is a surprising sight among the historical buildings that form the hospital.

Inside, I have read that, the concrete frame and curving bamboo staircase fill the space with uplifting natural light and color, achieving Maggie's aim of providing places of calm and inspiration.

I visited the building during the day (a cloudy one) and hence was not able to enjoy another unique feature of the building, the glowing façade, which must be a sight!
