Christmas reaches London

Did you notice that Granary square is ready for Christmas? To be fair so is the rest of the city ... and everyone in it.

Regardless of what some insist on, in London at least, everyone seems to embrace the season and spend the entire month doing "Christmasy" things.

From tree spotting and carol singing to visiting the ginger bread city or ice (frozen water) skating, there are lots of things to do. And although it is fair to say that most have a commercial angle , many focus on creating opportunities to catch up with friends and family which is a luxury we should not take for granted...

For me, Christmas is the time when I finally get to rest, reflect, charge batteries and start a new year with energy. (Yes, the year starts in the middle of the 12 days of Christmas ☺️)

The lights across town, when the nights start so early and are so cold, are a bonus that make the winter stretch easier.

However, as not everyone has the luxury of a warm or dry home , I propose we each find a way to
contribute to the lives of those who are too preoccupied with getting by day to day to be able to enjoy the lights, winter or Christmas rather than letting retoric drivea wedge.
