A client and collaborator of ours was the building surveyor during the most recent refurbishment of Liberty.
She regularly tells us stories of the many crafts people and designers who contributed to the project , including the lady who gilded in gold the boat on the roof over the front entrance. And it is humbling to hear how much work has gone into this project.
A few days ago we went to buy a metre of tana lawn fabric to make baby clothes for my lovely cousin's newborn and we decided to explore various areas we had not before.
The criteria... They had to be free from crowds ☺️. This is how we ended up in this wonderful room. A compact volume bridging above Kingly Street. If you know the building, it is the one above the animated clock.
It was beautiful. The two bay windows overlook the street , the timber panelling wraps the building like a gift , and a rather contemporary display of decorative plates.
Such a lovely little corner to have found.
