Should the Eiffel tower turn the lights off?

(Please be mindful: flashing lights in the post)

Without a doubt , the Eiffel tower is one of the most striking structures in Paris' skyline.

Wherever you look, it's beautifully crafted structure seems to have been weaved rather than welded or bolted and its elegance does put a lot of the chunkier structures we see around to shame.

The flashing fairy lights combined with Batman-like beam lights however, are not my cup of tea .

The lighting strategy was designed in 1985 and has been revised to reduce electric consumption a couple of times... however, given what we know now , I can't but wonder if it's time to rethink.

Allow me to explain:

On the one hand flashing lights can trigger epileptic seizures to sufferers and hence they would not be the choice I'd make for such a mayor structure but also the cannon lights have been known to have a negative impact on wildlife ... It is true that the lighting show lasts five minutes (every hour) but never the less, as the countryside falls victim of pesticides and cities become the refuge for more and more wildlife species ... And as studies show the impact that light pollution has on a reduction of the insect population, it is my opinion that they should reconsider * * * * *
