A few weeks ago the sunset was particularly beautiful and I took my phone with me during my time to exercise to take photos.
My walk took me to Kings cross and , of course the beautiful buildings around Granary Square.
It was, as you can see generally empty and yet I managed to spot some tourists (two friends travelling together and a family of 4) carrying suitcases, inappropriate clothing for the weather, stopping to look around, commenting and looking at directions on a paper ... All could have seem normal, should we not in the middle of a global pandemic where everyone has been made to stay home.
I couldn't but wonder why anyone would choose to travel to a ghost town in the middle of a pandemic where everyone is keeping their distance from one another.
Then I remembered the opening scene of 28 days later and how curious I was to see what it would be like to walk through the streets of "that London". I concluded they must have wondered it too.
In all seriousness though, after more than a year since all this started, I cannot but wonder why humans remain so unable to learn from the historical wipe out of entire cultures caused by the unconscious spread of viruses and diseases. We have advanced so far in some aspects and yet we remain as incompetent as ever when it comes to controlling the spread of a virus.
