Do new developments respect/ work within the London Views Management Framework?
This planning vehicle, which aimed at highlighting some of the city's oldest buildings also helped visually navigate across the city by keeping clear views from specific vantage points. It was in use when I was involved with large scale regeneration projects.
Nowadays, however, as the Riverside begins to look more and more like a solid upwards wall, I wonder whether the Framework remains a tool. (Not in theory but in practice) Thoughts ?
Ps. A related but different question is whether it would be positive/beneficial to explore additional views towards a wider range of key built environment examples. (To ignite our collective curiosity and provide visibility to lesser known yet relevant public buildings and the stories behind them) If so... What would be your proposed (none commercial only) building?
