For people within groups such as NAWIC London & South East, this can have an impact. You could miss out on relevant announcements and updates. (*)
Today I had a couple of minutes and took on the challenge to find out whether this could be changed, and I got it! LinkedIn's default preference is now an interest-based feed. This is to increase engagement and it is in line with other social media platforms. Furthermore, it will give you visibility in rooms you are not in and access to rooms you do not know exist.
However, whereas a restaurant recommendation on Instagram (which tends to be a one-way system) is mostly atemporal, on a business-to-business led platform (set to nurture two-way conversations) that is part of your contacts management toolbox (**) you might need a different setup.
Why? Because interest-based algorithms can make you lose connection with your actual network. For example, you can miss out on announcements by people and organisations you specifically choose to follow and connect with.
Here is how to change it on a desktop browser:
1. Click on your profile picture icon ("Me") at the top right, then select "Settings & privacy" from the dropdown menu.
2. On the left-hand sidebar, go to "Account preferences". Scroll down to "Preferred feed" view and click.
3. Switch the selection from "Top posts" to "Most recent posts" (it will save automatically).
4. Refresh your browser. Your feed will display posts in chronological order, starting with updates published minutes ago.
I hope this helps.

(**) It goes without saying, but do not just rely on it for this function because their services and features are known to have changed over time and you could be losing things you rely on.
